Weston Turville Newsletter – June 2014

FWt Church gaterom the Chairman: The updated Yellow book should be available at the June general meeting. Members will need to take out all of the old inserts and put in all of the new ones.
From the Editor: I normally send out the newsletters the weekend before the general meeting. Since it takes me absolutely yonks to write it; I would request that any submissions be made before the Friday of the week before the general meeting. Anyone can send me submissions. This month your newsletter is early ‘cos I am involved with the village fete (has anyone mentioned it yet? Saturday 21st 12-5 by the Village Hall!). This U3A are heavily involved in the Great War Commemoration Exhibition and have a vibrant and interactive stall at the fete! Go along and check it out. Oh there is also a dog show….

SPEAKER: Our speaker this month on Thursday 26th June is Craig Dutton from the Army Engagement Team. (Date inserted especially for Barb Bittenbender to save her having to ring me! Editor)
The committee appreciates the members stacking the chairs after the meeting. If people would box the books and puzzles it would be helpful. If they can help collapse the tables and put them near the chair storage cupboard this would be Greatly Appreciated.

CHRISTMAS MEAL: Can members who have not as yet let me know if they can still attend the Christmas Lunch at Halton House on Sunday 7th December, email or telephone me please otherwise I will be starting on the reserve list shortly! carolwtu3a@hotmail.co.uk or 01296 614186. Thank you.

Extreme Campanology. 6th November £32 (including Coach from Weston Turville, Guided Tour of Carillon Tower, and Bell foundry Tour). The Carillon Tower which is not normally open mornings or in the winter, have agreed to open for us and provide a tour –
that includes the 47 John Taylor bells. John Taylor Bell FoundryThere are plenty of alternatives to this component of the trip should you be unable to climb the stairs. This is another surprise sell-out event, just one place still available.

A neighbouring U3A has been inspired by the response to this trip and are considering repeating it in March, they are offering to accommodate our wait-list when their members have had the first option on places.
Payment of £32 by cheque to “Weston Turville U3A(Travel)” due next month. Finalised itinerary and logistics will be circulated nearer the event. Contact Adrian or Trevor email extreme@wtu3a.org.uk or tel. 0777 150 6055:
